Description

“Ojala Word Collage” is a fine art photography piece from the Invisible Borders-Lines collection.  The collection is a work-in-progress based on the “Out of Africa” theory, in which all human beings share a common DNA and that the phenomenon of contemporary migration patterns has defined diversity based on acceptance/non-acceptance of perceived differences.

Ojalá is a fine art photography piece (collage) from the Invisible Borders-Lines collection.

Ojalá is a wonderful word in Spanish. It is pronounced oh-ha-LAH. It expresses a strong desire for something to occur.  “Ojalá I will pass the test!”,  “Ojalá she will recover soon!”

Ironically, this common expression of the predominantly Christian Spanish-speaking world originally comes from medieval Moorish Arabic. In modern Arabic, one says Insha’Allah! – “if God wills.” Nowadays when Arabic speakers talk about the future, or make promises, resolutions or pledges, they begin or end with “Insha’Allah” – if God wills. “Insha’Allah, Aamir and I will be married this year.”

Both Ojalá and Insha’Allah imply hope making them a good example of transcultural enrichment.
